The Transnet Freight Rail Young Professional-in-Training Programme is a structured two-year graduate development initiative aimed at unemployed South African graduates (ages 18–35). The programme offers both institutional and on-the-job training, providing valuable work experience to improve employability. Participants will be mentored and evaluated every six months to ensure progress and alignment with Transnet’s expectations. Successful candidates will be placed in various depots and departments across the organisation, such as Krugersdorp, Bellville, Port Elizabeth, Kilner Park, Saldanha, Durban, Empangeni, and Parktown.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the two-year structured graduate development programme, including on-the-job training and mentorship
• Support the implementation and monitoring of safety and risk management initiatives within assigned departments
• Assist in safety audits, incident investigations, and the preparation of reports to ensure compliance with TFR standards
• Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders to promote a safe and efficient work environment
• Uphold Transnet’s values of integrity, professionalism, teamwork, and customer focus while developing practical workplace skills

Qualifications

• National Diploma or BA in Safety Management, Disaster and Safety Management, or Risk Management
• NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
• No prior work experience required; ideal for unemployed graduates
• South African citizenship is required
• Placement at various Transnet Freight Rail depots and departments across South Africa
